Greetings from the netherlands!! im here for around 5 days already. been to the netherlands (amsterdam, maastricht, roermond), belgium and germany (aachen). Day 1: Amsterdam We took a train from the Schipol airport to the city central. I always thought amsterdam is a dangerous city with the drugs, mafia and crime. In fact, its safe. No encounter any con-man or pickpockets in the city even when we are walking around at night. Tip: dont respond to anyone who approaches you and speaks to you 'nonsense'. The day over here is very short. Gets bright around 9am and its dark around 4 or 5 pm. Kinda sian cos when it gets dark it feels like the day its going to end and less day activities. Amsterdam central station: Anne Frank house: Yup, its the young lady who's diary was discovered and her experience was made known to everyone in the world. We visited the house which was the hideout for her and her family during the war. Boat ride along the canal: It explains almost everything about amsterdam during the 1 hour boat ride. That's the house boats along the canal, there are lots of them. Day 2: Zaanse Schans. A little village with the windmills ,clogs, cheese etc. Day 3: Aachen christmas market. This is one of my favourite places so far. its like the european pasam malam, much better than the singapore one. It has lots of stores selling christmasy stuff, food...and very rich in christmas atmosphere. JR planned surprise belated birthday after dinner with his friends in the hostel. I was really surprised. when the cake came into the room for a few seconds i thought it was someone else's birthday. These are the little gifts he bought for me during his trips in europe :)
