Took a look at my blog just now and i realised i forgot to blog about the rest of europe! paris was the lucky unforgotten one. hahha..

Venice Day 1 (27 Dec '06):
we loved the city when we first stepped out of the train station in venice. it was like 'discovery travel and living' came alive. it was like what i saw on tv and much much more.

photos we took of the river with the buildings and the sky looks picture perfect though some of the buildings were kinda old and run down.

i like this photo, it looks so venicey. anyway, we didnt take the gondola when we were there.
most of you must be saying, "huh?!? the gondola is one of the icons in venice! why dont you all take a trip around venice in it?"
yes we didnt, cos the price for only 2 on the gondola is expensive. i think its around 30-60 euros per person if there are only 2 of us on it. we both thought the money can be well spent elsewhere which could make me equally or even more happy.

we made a trip down to the st mark's square in the afternoon. the basilica's exterior doesnt look like a typical basilica i think. it looks more like a palace or something else.

the square is invaded with pigeons. im afraid of them. i would never go too close to them, so i took this photo from a distance. the uncle standing there sells bird feed and those girls there bought the bird feed and they were 'attacked' by the pigeons around.
i think its gross having so many of them crowding around you and pecking on almost every part of your body. those girls are brave. please never ask me to do that.

gelato icecream stalls are almost everywhere in the busy streets of venice and the rest of italy. the singapore version is 95% fat free. i wonder if those in italy are similar. its winter, the icecream wont melt, so i took my time to finish up a cone without worrying that the sweet streaks getting into my hands. hahah..

it got boring when it turned dark. the sun sets at around 4-5pm. that's very early and your sightseeing day ends there. shops close at 6 or 7pm. its dinner after that and back to the hotel.

Venice Day 2 (28 Dec '06)
we kinda did not know what to do on the 2nd day cos we felt like we visited all the hot spots in venice on the first day. is venice that small or JR and i are fast walkers? we decided to cover the rest of the little areas in venice.

that's me with the rialto bridge:

the weather was bad that day, it was so foggy. this was taken on the waterboat. it looked like the other boats were disappearing into nothing. i suppose the gondoliers didnt have much business that day.
there's very cheap wine there! we spotted a shop in some ulu street. all the wine is in barrels and you have to bring alone your own bottle to purchase. you dont need a wine bottle, mineral bottle also can! so we emptied one of the bottle and filled it up. we got 500ml for only 0.90 euros!

i like the sandwiches there. they are prettily wrapped or rolled. i dont think i see sandwiches sold this way in sg right?
i shall blog bout the other cities and shanghai some other time. its quite tiring. hahah...
