we had the entire week free last week. so everyone of us went out in our own groups. went out with the 'shanghai urban construction' group last thursday after our job orientation to Cheng Huang Miao for the famous Nan Xiang xiaolongbao. we had to queue to buy the baos. its that popular. we were amazed when we saw the price outside the store.. 10yuan for 16 xiaolongbaos! cheap right! outside the kitchen (me, yixian, qiaoli, ni tiong) : after trying that, we wont want to go back again. its not that fantastic. hahah..cos the skin is very thick, and there's not alot of filling inside. maybe that's the shanghai type of xiaolongbao. cos i ate from a few different stalls here and they are about the same.talking bout food, you can get a decent, filling dinner at a restaurant for less than S$10. the food there is much more tasty than those in sg, even the plain rice. its like a combination of thai and jap rice. but its everyone's complain that its too oily and salty. their rice, salt, oil are like freee...you can get a large bowl of rice and its almost overflowing. we went to take a walk around that area after that. the buildings there look ancient and run down.
