I'm back from my May block holiday trip! inner mongolia was fun. the grasslands n desert were unforgettable.
here's an outdated post of the nanjing weekend getaway.

Nanjing - 21 & 22 April
i think this nanjing post is gonna be quite brief, the trip's itenary was kinda boring, we didnt visit much attractions over there. the must go place, the nanjing massacre museum was under renovation.

Day 1: the day i sweated the most since i came to china. the weather was surprisingly hot, it felt like 25 degrees. we visited the sun yat sen memorial. its a long tiring flight of stairs to get to the tomb. the highlight of the day would be to climb to the summit of the mountain. it was no easy take for people who seldom exercise and lead a sedentary lifestyle. i almost died when i was halfway there. the long cable car ride was fun down the mountain, around 20 mins.

Day 2: 'nua-ing' day at the hostel. im kinda disappointed with nanjing. it used to be an ancient capital of china yet there were not much historical sites to visit. perhaps we were not resourceful free and easy travellers.

Inner Mongolia (28 April to 6 May)
Day 1: Hohhot 呼和浩特, the capital
we took a 2 hour china eastern flight from shanghai to hohhot. we were greeted with weird english when we stepped out of our plane..haha..worn for 警告 and honorific passenger.

From top to bottom, left to right,
outside the airport, at the reception of the youth hostel, in the bus on our way to the railway station, in the railway station

photos at the railway station and our first lunch in inner mongolia. we went to the railway station to get the return train tickets. lunch was 东北, north western cuisine again. it was our 3rd visit to a north western cuisine in 2 weeks. its not like we like it alot, its just coincidence. my favourite dishes would be fried corn with oat (tastes like cereal prawn), fried sweet potato with caramel (it is super duper deliciously sweet..haha)
dinner was at a 烧考, chinese bbq restaurant. they can bbq almost anything. the more uncommon ones are 馒头 (plain buns), 肉包 (meat buns), chicken heart (QQ one..very chewy), chicken head (i dont know what's in the head, but the friends who tried that said it was delicious. they suck out the juice from the head..eww..chicken brain juice?) , 羊排 (mutton ribs, i didnt try that, i hate mutton).
Day 2: another relax day in the city. we went for a boat ride in a park.

Day 3: the proper itenary starts. we had a tour in the 官府, ancient generals place.
Tibetian buddhist temple
王昭君博物馆 zhaojun museum. wang zhao jun is one of the 4 ancient beauties. the photos are kinda blur. i think there's something wrong with alvin's camera that day. its a long post, im taking a break now. there will be much more interesting stuff to come.
